Willow and Everett Tea Kettle Review: Do I Recommend It?

Willow & Everett is one of the leading manufacturers of tea kettles, and while they make multiple models, each has its own benefits.

They offer glass and stainless models as well as stovetop or electric varieties. I recently had the privilege of trying a couple of models from Willow & Everett. Some I liked and some I didn’t. In this Willow and Everett Tea Kettle review, I’ll talk about what I experienced, but it’s in no way a comprehensive review of every tea kettle they offer.

About Willow & Everett

Willow & Everett sells more than just tea kettles. They sell electric gooseneck kettles that can be used to warm water for tea, pour-over coffee, or oatmeal. They also have other high-end kitchen goods like salt and pepper grinders.

Their tea and coffee offering is by far the most extensive part of their kitchen collection, and they have just about everything you could want from cold brew on

tap to pour-over coffee to the traditional whistling kettle.

Their prices are affordable and their products are made with quality, for the most part. I can assure you that after reading this, you’ll have a better idea of which product you’d like to try first!

Willow & Everett Glass and Stainless Steel Teapot Infuser

Willow and Everett Tea Pot Infuser in box

This cute little teapot and infuser is perfect for making tea with friends. It’s large enough to brew 3-4 cups of tea with an infuser that will hold enough loose leaf tea for the same. It features an elegant, blown glass pot with a brushed stainless steel infuser, safe for food.

Microwavable

The great thing about this teapot is that the entire thing is microwavable, so it’s quick and convenient, even when you don’t have access to a stovetop. It can boil water in a matter of minutes, no matter where you are. You have to remove the stainless steel lid and infuser first, but after boiling, you can pop the infuser in and let it steep. Of course, if you would rather use the stovetop, you can do that, too.

The only problem I found with this was that using it on my gas stovetop heated the entire pot too hot to touch. I needed a hot pad holder to protect my hand from the hot handle when pouring.

Spill-free lid

It’s a good thing the lid is spill-free, because it got really hot, too! Naturally, as I was pouring my tea out, I placed my fingers on the lid so it wouldn’t topple over, and I couldn’t hold them there for very long.

The lid locks into place so water won’t leak or spill over as you pour. It keeps it secure while pouring, so you don’t have to touch it. I also appreciated how large of an opening the lid creates when taking it off. There’s plenty of space to put your loose leaves inside.

Rust-free infuser

The quality stainless steel composition of the infuser ensures that nothing will rust, even with prolonged contact with water. It’s easy to wipe clean, so you can steep your favorite tea and brew to the desired strength while still enjoying easy clean up.

Tea cozy

I did enjoy the custom fit tea cozy. If you’re brewing multiple cups of tea to enjoy throughout your morning, simply wrap the cozy around your teapot to insulate it until you’re ready to pour more. You won’t have to rush to drink it all or reheat it. It looks like a little sweater for your teapot.

Pros:

  • Elegant glass and stainless steel design
  • Spill-proof lid with wide opening
  • Rust-free infuser wipes clean
  • Custom-fit tea cozy
  • Microwavable

Cons:

  • Hot to the touch after boiling on stovetop

Key features:

  • Perfectly shaped for even heating in the microwave
  • Tea cozy for keeping water warm
  • Secure, spill-proof lid
  • Rust-free infuser
  • Easy to clean

Willow & Everett Glass Teapot

In hindsight, I’m not entirely sure I was supposed to use the glass and stainless steel microwavable teapot on the stove, because this product performed much better for me when it used it on the stovetop.

The handle didn’t get nearly as hot because the teapot itself is a bit taller, which kept the handle farther away from the flames. I doubt it would be a problem at all on an electric cooktop.

Classic design

The thing I like about this glass teapot is that the shape and design of the pot itself is a bit more classic than the microwavable unit. It’s curvy, and shaped more like a traditional teapot, despite its elegant glass and stainless steel construction. It feels sturdy in your hand but remains a functional and beautiful addition to your kitchen.

Versatile

This teapot can be used on the stovetop and in the microwave, so it’s a jack of all trades teapot that you can take anywhere. It still holds up to 4 cups of tea, so you can share with friends, but cleanup is easy because it’s dishwasher safe.

If you’re a fan of cold tea or sweet tea, the pot is also fridge-friendly, so you can boil your water and infuse your leaves, then pop it in the fridge without worrying about it cracking or breaking.

Easy-pour spout

I found this teapot a bit easier to pour than the other glass design because the spout is longer and shaped more like a gooseneck kettle. It was easier to control the flow of the water, which meant less splashing and spilling.

The handle was ergonomic, making it easy to hold, which also helped to control the pour. The spout featured a non-drip indention on the end, so even after pouring, I didn’t have to let it drip before putting it down, so it was a very clean experience.

Spill-proof lid

The lid locks into place so you don’t have to worry about water leaking or spilling out as you pour. Luckily, even if you do hold the lid in place by force of habit, like I do, it won’t be hot to the touch, even after boiling on the stove.

The downside to the design is that it doesn’t offer a very wide opening in which to put your loose leaves. Overall, I think the design is still more functional than the microwavable version, and I prefer it for its simplicity and classic design.

Pros:

  • Classic glass and stainless steel design
  • Stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge safe
  • Non-drip spout and spill-proof lid

Cons:

  • Not a very wide opening for leaves

Key features:

  • Classic design
  • Secure, spill-proof lid
  • Non-drip spout
  • Narrow opening
  • Gooseneck-like spout
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Microwave safe
  • Fridge safe

Willow & Everett Electric Gooseneck Kettle

willow & everette electric gooseneck kettle in box

If you’re looking for an affordable electric gooseneck kettle, this definitely fits the bill. Because it’s electric, you can use it even when you don’t have a stovetop available, making it a great option for the office or bedroom.

Quick boiling

It’s a simple design that offers quick boiling and will turn off automatically when it’s done. It will heat water much more quickly than a stovetop kettle, but it lacks the precise temperature control you may want for a variety of beverages.

There’s also no thermometer included, so you’ll have to purchase an external one. However, it’s not difficult to know how hot the water is. It simply heats it to boiling, which is 212 degrees Fahrenheit or 100 degrees Celsius, and then shuts off.

Gooseneck spout

The spout is the perfect design for controlling your pour, and while it can be poured quickly, it’s easy to get a slow, even flow when needed. You’ll be able to extract more flavor from your tea leaves (or your coffee grounds) with this design.

It’s also lightweight, so it’s easy to hold and pour in steady increments without getting too tired. Even with a 1-liter capacity, you’ll be able to hold it comfortably until you’re finished pouring several cups of tea.

Stainless steel construction

The aesthetics of this particular unit are pleasing, combining Old World European styles with just a hint of Asian flare. The handle is comfortable to hold and doesn’t get hot, and the mirror finish on the kettle itself is sleek and good-looking.

The design is simple and elegant with functional BPA-free plastic, food-grade stainless steel, and multiple cool touchpoints for safety. The downside is that because this kettle is so lightweight, it doesn’t feel quite as durable as other similar models.

Performance

The absence of a thermometer, a keep warm setting, or various temperature presets may turn some people away, but this tea kettle does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The 360-degree swivel base makes it easy to pop back onto the pedestal with one hand.

Controlling the flow of water is effortless and the handle is ergonomic and comfortable. However, because the unit is so lightweight, I found that when the water approached boiling, it rocked the kettle on the pedestal and I feared it would fall over, spilling boiling water everywhere.

Thankfully, it never did that, but I would feel more comfortable with something a bit more sturdy in my kitchen, especially with kids around.

Value

I will say that this kettle is definitely a steal for the price. It’s an entry-level gooseneck kettle for those who want to experiment with loose tea or pour over coffee. If you’re upgrading from a standard stovetop kettle, this is a great option that won’t break the bank.

It’s a no-frills design that still manages to be extremely functional and elegant. At this price point, it’s an impressive product made with stainless steel and an automatic shut-off, ensuring your safety.

Pros:

  • Automatic shut off
  • Rapid boiling
  • Electric and easy to use
  • Comfortable handle
  • Lightweight kettle

Cons:

  • No max fill line
  • No built-in thermometer
  • Seems to be made of lesser quality materials

Key features:

  • Lightweight
  • Comfortable handle
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Rapid boiling
  • Automatic shut off

Willow & Everett Gooseneck Electric Kettle with Temperature Controls and Presets

stainless steel willow & everette electric gooseneck kettle styled on counter with breakfast and coffee

If you’re upgrading from the standard electric kettle, you won’t spend much more to get a lot more features. This is a sturdy stainless steel kettle that has several preset temperature controls on the front, as well as an option to keep your water warm for up to an hour.

Rapid heating

Just like the standard electric kettle, this one heats the water rapidly, but does it to the precise temperature you desire. These temperature presets have suggestions underneath to indicate which drink the setting works well with. While the lowest preset of 180 degrees is great for green tea, 205 degrees is ideal for pour over coffee.

There are several options in between as well as a 212-degree boil setting. After the kettle heats the water to your desired temperature, it will turn off for safety, but you can override this setting by pushing the Keep Warm button, and it will keep your water warm for up to an hour before automatically shutting off again.

After it turns off, the preset temperature remains illuminated so you don’t forget which option you chose before you pour your drinks.

Gooseneck spout

Much like the standard electric kettle, this upgraded version still features a gooseneck spout designed to help you control your pour. It’s easy to get a steady flow, whether it’s fast or slow, so you don’t ruin your beverage.

Stainless steel construction

This gooseneck kettle features stainless steel construction that’s much more sturdy than the standard option. It’s thicker and heavier, but remains food-grade stainless steel with no chemical coatings for your safety.

The downside here is that the 1-liter capacity makes it a bit heavy, so it can be harder to pour, despite the ergonomic handle. The kettle itself is also hot to the touch, reducing the number of touchpoints you have to steady yourself as you pour.

Performance

This kettle still lacks a thermometer, but with the convenient temperature presets, you’ll know the temperature of your water with no problem. It also has a 360-degree swivel base to make it easy to put back on the pedestal.

Controlling your flow is easy and the handle is comfortable. It’s a durable tea kettle that won’t rock the base when it boils, but it can be a bit heavy to pick up if it’s full.

Value

All in all, I thought this gooseneck kettle still offered a great value. It comes with a lot of features for the price. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, but you want more precise control over the temperature of your water, this is a great option from Willow & Everett.

Pros:

  • Sturdy stainless steel
  • Temperature control and presets
  • Illuminated buttons and audible beeps
  • Keep warm option
  • Easy to control pour

Cons:

  • Heavy
  • Outside of kettle gets hot
  • No celsius reading

Key features:

  • Sturdy construction
  • Stainless steel finish
  • Temperature presets
  • Audible beeps
  • Illuminated buttons
  • Ergonomic handle
  • Gooseneck spout

Willow & Everett Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle with Layered Capsule Bottom

Willow & Everett Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle

For the purist at heart, the whistling tea kettle may be more your speed. I remember sitting in the kitchen with my grandma, waiting for that high-pitched sound that meant we could finally enjoy our beverages together. Whistling tea kettles are still fantastic options for boiling water and steeping your favorite tea, but they’ve come a long way.

Elegant design

This stainless steel tea kettle is made from premium materials, so it’s sturdy and built to last. It’s made from a combination of surgical-grade stainless steel, iron, and aluminum. It’s also rust-resistant, which is critical when exposing it to large amounts of water.

The mirror finish is shiny and easy to wipe clean, making an attractive addition to your kitchen, even when you’re not using it. The classic design sits perfectly in the corner, waiting for your next pot of tea.

Rapid boiling

Cheap, lightweight kettles are typically made of 1-2 layers of material, so they don’t hold heat very well. This tea kettle has a capsule at the bottom made with 5 layers of stainless steel, iron, and aluminum. This helps your water heat up quickly and evenly so you don’t have to wait.

Performance

As soon as your water boils, the kettle will whistle loudly, which is a feature you cannot turn off. It’s designed this way to indicate that your water is ready. Included with the teapot is a stainless steel tea strainer, so you can boil enough water for a single cup of your favorite loose tea.

The large 3-liter capacity is incredible for a tea kettle of this size. Its design is perfect for sharing with friends. The handle and the pour spout are coated in a non-slip silicone that’s soft and cool to the touch. This makes it easier to lift and pour such a large amount of water.

The handle is ergonomic and comfortable with a spring-loaded lever that helps you open and close the spout when you’re ready to pour.

Pros:

  • Classic and functional design
  • Large capacity
  • Rapid boiling with 5 layers of material
  • Non-slip silicone coating

Cons:

  • Infuser is only big enough to hold loose leaves for one cup

Key features:

  • Elegant, traditional design
  • Whistling notification
  • Infuser included
  • Rapid boiling
  • Sturdy construction
  • Large capacity

My personal favorite is the electric gooseneck kettle with temperature controls because you can set your temperature precisely to ensure your drink of choice is perfect. It’s sturdy and looks elegant, plus you can use it when you don’t have a stove close.
