Gooseneck Kettle Buying Guide: How To Pick The Best Model?

Everyone has their own morning and evening ritual, complete with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or even a hot toddy. The tech we all use to make our morning and evening beverages vary with the ritual, but many people today are switching out their Keurigs, coffee pots, and traditional tea kettles for gooseneck kettles.

Gooseneck kettles are good for both the coffee and the tea drinker, while other gadgets make you choose. And if you’re a pour-over coffee fan or French press user, the gooseneck kettle offers a precision pour that traditional kettles simply cannot.

We set out to find our favorite five gooseneck kettles available today. This list takes into consideration price, versatility, practicality, and overall quality. Here are my top picks!

When you’re looking to purchase a gooseneck kettle, it’s important to look out for what exactly you’re paying for. You can get a solid, simple gooseneck for only about $30-40. So if the kettle you’re looking at just turns off and on and is $100, move along!

It’s charging you $100 to do what a regular old saucepan does! There are a lot of bells and whistles built into gooseneck kettles these days, so take the time to decide on what exactly you need and want before purchasing.

For example, temperature control makes sense if you like a variety of beverages or even want to use this for baking and need the water to be warm enough to wake up yeast but not hot enough to kill it. But do you also need a Bluetooth controller for that kettle too? Maybe! It depends on you!

Top Pick of 2021

Best Overall: The Willow and Everett Gooseneck Electric Kettle with Temperature Control and Presets

Gooseneck Kettle Buying Guide: everett

Buy at Amazon

This shiny item comes in at number one for us for a few reasons. First of all, you can select from various preset temperatures. So if you just want to boil water, your kettle can do that with one click of a button. If you’re making loose leaf tea and you don’t want to burn your leaves, you can use the lower temperature setting. Of course, there are settings between those two options as well!

This kettle is also known for being speedy, with most temperatures reached in about a minute and a half! The Willow and Everett aren’t too pricey for having one liter (thirty-four ounces) of water capacity. This kettle also has a max-fill line inside to make sure you don’t overfill. And we love that it has a nice, comfortable, ergonomic handle to keep you from burning yourself when you pour.

We also love that the Willow and Everett kettle has an auto-off function. You won’t be halfway to work trying to remember if you turned the gas off on your stove or turned off the coffee pot!

But my personal favorite function of this kettle is that it has the ability to keep the water warm for up to thirty minutes. That means that you can enjoy a cup of tea and come back for more of the same temperature water within thirty minutes, without having to wait for the water to heat up again. Yes, it has a memory.

I’d recommend this for the home, especially if you’re not a strict coffee or tea drinker or if you and your roommate(s) have different preferences. Additionally, if you’re looking for an office option to share, this would be a great, easy-to-use kettle that would keep everyone happy!

What We Love

  • BPA free
  • Kitchen-grade stainless steel
  • Various preset temperatures to choose from
  • Auto-off
  • Warming function
  • Good for tea drinkers and coffee drinkers

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Temperatures are preset so you cannot adjust them
  • Comes with hot plate base so will take up more counter space

I think this is the best for both tea and coffee drinkers because it offers a variety of temperatures to choose from. This kettle won’t burn your coffee and it won’t ruin your tea leaves. It’s very versatile.

Best for Practicality and Precision: Coffee Gator Gooseneck

Gooseneck Kettle Buying Guide: Coffee Gator Gooseneck

Buy at Amazon

This tiny but mighty kettle is rust-proof stainless steel with a built-in thermometer on top. It is not electric, you heat this up on the stove. But don’t worry, the handle is coated and slanted away from the body of the kettle, keeping it cool to the touch no matter how hot the kettle gets.

The precision of the gooseneck makes this kettle perfect for French press or pour-over coffee. This is truly a steal for what you’re getting at the price I found!

This is our second pick because of a few things. Firstly, you can’t beat that price but it’s also a versatile gooseneck kettle. You can use it for coffee, hot chocolate, and tea as the thermometer makes it an easy tool to heat water for any project.

It’s also sleek, and small but can hold up to one liter or thirty-four ounces of water which is plenty if you’re brewing for multiple people! And finally, we love keeping our counters tidy and this kettle is easy to store without taking up counter space.

What We Love

  • Can’t beat that price
  • Built-in thermometer
  • Easy to store away
  • The neck is perfect for French press and pour-over coffee drinkers
  • Rust-proof and BPA free
  • The handle slants away from the body of the kettle

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Very simple
  • You have to keep an eye on the thermometer
  • No auto-off

I think this is best for the loyal pour-over coffee drinker because of that precision neck. Pouring water over your Chemex is very challenging with a spout that’s too large. The Coffee Gator Gooseneck removes the temperature guessing game and also makes the pour easy. The thermometer also makes this a versatile enough kettle for the tea drinker.

Best for Pour-Over Coffee: Bean Envy Gooseneck Pour-Over Coffee Kettle

Buy at Amazon

This kettle comes in third for us but it’s no consolation prize. This kettle comes in at 1.2 liters, so it’s larger than all of the other gooseneck kettles on this list.

Like the Coffee Gater, this is for the stovetop, not electric. It also has a built-in thermometer and slanted ergonomic handle to keep your hand safe. The reason why I’m putting this in third and not second is the price. This kettle does everything the Gater does for more money and I don’t know why.

What We Love

  • Built-in thermometer makes brewing to the desired temperature easy
  • Safe handle
  • BPA free
  • Rust-resistant stainless steel
  • Precision pouring

Things to Keep in Mind

  • The thermometer has no alarm function, so you need to babysit it for the desired temperature
  • No auto-off

I think this kettle is best for coffee drinkers because it has that great precision neck for pouring and a built-in thermometer so you don’t burn your coffee. Keeping your water around the 180 degrees needed for certain teas might be tricky though, so if you’re a loose-leaf tea drinker this might not be your best choice.

Best for Precise Pour Control: KitchenAid Precision Gooseneck Digital Electric Kettle

Buy at Amazon

This kettle comes in fourth because it has the bells and whistles that make sense, but with a hefty price tag.

What I like most about this kettle is that it has a thermometer on top of the kettle, like with the Coffee Gater and Bean Envy models, but this also has a digital setting for your desired temperature which ranges from 140 degrees to 212 degrees Fahrenheit. So you can set your water to 175 degrees and lean over and check its status anytime! (Just remember that a watched pot never boils!)

This is another electric option with that gooseneck precision pouring. It has one of my favorite features: the warming function, which lasts up to thirty minutes. The KitchenAid model has a one-liter capacity, you pay a bit more for this kettle, but you get the KitchenAid brand, and in my experience that can mean dependability for years to come.

What We Love

  • Digital adjustable temperature
  • Additional thermometer on top
  • Safety handle
  • Auto-off
  • Warming function
  • Good for coffee and tea drinkers

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Pricier than other similar kettles

I think this kettle is best for both coffee and tea drinkers since it has a variety of temperatures available and a warming function.

Best for Quick Heating: Brewista Artisan Electric Gooseneck Kettle

Gooseneck Kettle Buying Guide: brewista

Buy at Amazon

This is a really cool kettle. It has temperature settings that are not preset but adjustable. It also utilizes a digital screen to make adjusting the temperature simple for you. It has a one liter capacity.

The Brewista also has a “flash boil” setting and that warming setting I love so much for those of you who are like me and don’t like to wait for your water to heat up again for your second cup of tea.

This is an electric kettle so it has a hot plate base that plugs into the wall. It also has an ergonomic handle for safety. I place this in fourth place not because it isn’t a great option, but because it’s really expensive. This is very pricey versus the less costly price tag for the Willow and Everett kettle, which does almost the exact same thing. I don’t think adjusting to exact temperature and having a digital interface is worth the extra money, but that might just be me!

Things We Love

  • Adjustable temperature
  • Flash boil function
  • Warming function
  • Timer function
  • Digital screen

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Not enough tech for the price
  • You can get similar functions for much less

I think this kettle is best for the coffee and tea drinker, as it has precision temperature controls.

FAQs

Question: Why should I give up my traditional kettle? It’s been in the family for years…

Gooseneck kettles are good for a few things. First of all, for those of us who do pour-over coffee and French press, the narrow neck makes pouring infinitely easier. And if you’re a tea drinker, making the switch to a fancy kettle with temperature controls or a thermometer, you will find your tea tasting superior as you have more control over the temperature of your water.

Question: Why do you care so much about these handles pulling away from the body of the kettle?

This is something to look for when you’re researching kettles that go on the stove. Think about it: if the handle is flush with the body, it’s going to heat up over the flame of your stove top with the water. When you go to pour your water, you’re going to feel the burn! Ouch!

Question: Would you recommend a gooseneck kettle for a beginner tea drinker?

Yes, if you have a thermometer on it. Being in touch with the temperature of the water when drinking tea makes a huge difference, trust me!

Question: Why do you like auto-off so much?

I’m that person who double-checks candles, stoves, and straighteners. So I like being on my way to work or running errands and not having to wonder if I left the stove or coffee pot on. Knowing I have a kettle that turns itself off removes that anxiety so I can focus on the task at hand.

Gooseneck Kettle Buying Guide: Final Thoughts

I used to be a pour-over coffee drinker, so I had a gooseneck kettle. Now, I’m diving more into tea and exploring that world so a gooseneck kettle is also appropriate. In the end, that versatility of the Willow and Everett, in particular, is what made me choose it. The reviews are wonderful, it’s speedy, it’s easy to use, and of course – it has that warming function I need in my life!

While all the kettles on this list warrant a try, I had to rank them (it’s what I’m here for!) Choosing the Willow and Everett was easy(ish) for me because I was taking into consideration: price, versatility, practicality, and overall quality. In the end, the Willow and Everett kettle hit all the marks I feel most coffee and tea drinkers need, and the price is right.
