Fangirl Friday: Animal Crossing New Leaf Update

Raise your hand if you have ever been personally victimized by Mr. Resetti. Or maybe you owe more bells to Tom Nook than you do in student loans. If you’ve picked more weeds sitting from your couch than you ever have from an actual garden, you might just be a die hard Animal Crossing fan like me. Well listen up because I’ve got some news for you! Go ahead. Click play on the video below to see what I’m fangirling over this week.

That’s right people! Nintendo just released their free update for Animal Crossing: New Leaf through the Nintendo eShop! I don’t know about you, but my poor 3DS had been gathering dust for months while Nintendo took their sweet time promoting Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer *yawn* but this update was just the reason I needed to brush the old thing off and power it up! The update is jam-packed with new features and activities including, but totally not limited to, amiibo support for characters from Animal Crossing and other Nintendo titles, an RV Campground area owned by a hippie hound dog named Harvey, and the ever tempting option to sell your town to Tom Nook for loose change before saying “sayonara” to your game progress.

To get the update, just select “Update Data” from the title screen after firing up your new Nintendo 3DS XL with a copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf inside. If you own a Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL or Nintendo 2DS, you’ll need the Nintendo NFC Reader/Writer Accessory (pictured above) in order to use the update’s amiibo functionality. To really get the most out of the “Welcome amiibo” update, you’re going to need an army of Amiibos and several Collectors Albums and Amiibo Cards. Missing a few things? Click on the product links above to purchase the individual items directly through Amazon. After you’re all set, watch the full 16 minutes of the Animal Crossing Direct from 11.2.16 below. Skip to 13:27 for the best part imo.

Before you go, don’t forget to check out the tweets below from @NintendoAmerica and @animalcrossing, the main accounts for breaking Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo news. Still craving more? Read up on anything and everything Animal Crossing here on Nintendo’s official website.
